Fun day out that benefits community

Ref: pr 093

Chelmer Housing Partnership (CHP) is out to prove that it’s much more than a housing provider!  The ‘Family Fun Day’ on 2 September promises to be a great day out for those who live near Chelmer Village Green (behind Asda).

The Fun Day has been organised to help develop community spirit and encourage residents to take pride in their local area through involvement in an event that, as well as being fun, will benefit the whole community. With significant involvement from six area forums covering the entire Chelmsford Borough representing the views of the wider group of residents, CHP enables improvements which deal with the problems highlighted by residents.

CHP plans events like these for each of the areas in which they manage housing; events have taken place at Chelmer Village in past years but none on such a grand scale.  Between 12.00 noon and 4.00p.m. there will be a farmer’s market; children’s activities such as games, competitions and face painting; a magician; food and ice cream stalls; karaoke, crafts, displays from local groups and emergency services, and an antique bric-a-brac fair. The whole day will be compered by CHP’s very own singing sensation Jaymz May-Sinclair from Duets.

The day has been organised with help from Chelmsford Borough Council, Springfield Parish Council, the Church of Our Saviour, Trinity Church, Asda and Chelmford Police.

“It’s wonderful when the community works together to make an event like this a success,” said Felicia Russell-North, CHP’s Neighbourhood Coordinator for the Chelmer Village area. “CHP’s tenant’s forum, local churches, and parish councils have all given their support to organise the fun day and local shops have donated some great prizes. It’s set to be a fun packed day!”

Ends.
