New Neighbourhood Agreements

Chelmer Housing Partnership (CHP) is supporting the government's Respect agenda by introducing Neighbourhood Agreements, special contracts in which communities and local authorities both promise to play their part in making neighbourhoods safe, clean and pleasant places to live.
As part of the government respect agenda which aims to enable communities to take control and responsibility for standards of behaviour, Neighbourhood Agreements are a great way to improve resident's quality of life. They set standards for improvements which involve other service providers as well as CHP. They also set standards for residents for example, to make sure homes and gardens are kept clean and tidy. Residents are encouraged to identify and report their concerns to the relevant agency so that problems can be tackled. Other service providers involved in the agreements include: Chelmsford Borough Council, Essex police and other landlords.
Andrea O'Callaghan, Quality of Life Manager at CHP, said: "Neighbourhood Agreements help all of the neighbourhood services to work better with communities so that everyone can take more pride in their surroundings. They help instil a sense of community spirit in a neighbourhood."
Successful Neighbourhood Agreements in Boarded Barns, Widford, Wheatfield Way and at Meadgate shopping parade have already been launched. New agreements will be launched in the following areas in 2006:
- Bryon Rd/Shelley Road on Wednesday 7th June
- East Hanningfield on Wednesday 5th July
- Woodhall Shopping Parade/Pembroke Place on Wednesday 2nd August
- St Nazaire Rd and Salerno Rd on 6th September
