Our Stock

Houses, flats and bungalows

We provide a full range of housing and landlord services to more than 7,000 households and a further 500 residents of other housing associations across Essex.

Most of our stock is in the Chelmsford borough and is made up of mainly one-, two- and three-bed flats and houses, some of which are elderly designated. We also have some four- and five-bed houses, and some bungalows.

On transfer of the housing stock from Chelmsford Borough Council, we started a £58million reinvestment programme to update these homes to modern standards. This programme is now nearly finished and we have been recognised by the Office of the Deputy Minister for our success on meeting the Decent Homes Standard.

Supported housing

We have 26 retirement schemes in Essex. Some are in central Chelmsford although we also have schemes in Springfield, Galleywood, Boreham, Chelmer Village, Great Waltham, Great Baddow, Stock, Danbury, Writtle, and South Woodham Ferrers. Every scheme is different but the information below will give you a guide to the kind of facilities you can expect.

Shops

We own 63 units on nine shopping parades throughout the Chelmsford Borough. These are on our housing estates and serve the local communities.

When a shop becomes empty, we ask our letting agents to find a new leaseholder. Where possible we give priority to uses that we feel will benefit the local community. Sometimes the parades already have these uses, so we consider other applications that may benefit a wider range of customers, for example tiling and electrical goods. All vacant units are marketed through our letting agents:

Garages

We have a wide range of garages available for rent in the Chelmsford Borough. We operate our own garage waiting list and prioritise premierplus members. If you would like to rent a garage, contact Muriel Gower on 01245 613059 or email: muriel.gower@chelmerhp.org.uk

We are currently reviewing how our garage sites are used and plan to develop new affordable houses on some selected under-used sites.

We carry out repairs to ensure all our garages are safe and usable. We also carry out regular inspections to check for litter, graffiti, unauthorised parking, abandoned vehicles and damage.

 

There are three levels of accessibility under the Web Accessibility Initiative - "A", "AA" and "AAA". It is intended that all pages on the Chelmer Housing Partnership website will conform to at least Priority 2 "AA" rating.
