CHP aims to:

This statement aims to:

  • highlight our ongoing commitment to equality and diversity
  • act as a framework for promoting and adopting best practice and improvement
  • demonstrate compliance with anti-discrimination law and regulations.

Working with others to tackle disadvantage

In delivering its aims we will:

  • work with other agencies, groups and individuals (including community groups, local authority partners, other housing providers and statutory bodies) to address the needs of sections of the community who are often disadvantaged and discriminated against
  • take positive action to prevent or compensate for disadvantages where appropriate.

As an employer, we:

  • welcome diversity and ensure equality of opportunity in all aspects of our employment practices including recruitment and selection, training and development, pay and reward, consultation and welfare, and appraisal and promotion
  • aspire to have a workforce that broadly reflects our local community

As a social landlord, we:

  • welcome diversity and promotes equality of opportunity in all aspects of our social landlord activities including allocations and lettings, provision of housing services and new homes, dealing with antisocial behaviour and harassment, resident involvement and community development, and use and choice of contractors
  • recognise, understand and respect the diversity of the communities we serve

  • believe all sections of the community should be equally satisfied with the quality of the service they receive
  • believe we have a key role in preventing and effectively tackling all forms of discrimination and harassment
  • believe letting arrangements should reflect local need.
